I am one week from full recovery so Moms have started short walks with me. Friday Mom loaded me up in the car and we actually went to the dog park, very exciting. I walked for about 20 minutes, I pooped, it was delightful. We concluded our trip with the all bitter bath. Of course I suck this up and endure because I am good. I can't wait to be back in full pup mode. Love,Neko
My little brother Ian had his first "solid" food tonight. I have anticipated this event for quite some time, you have to seize these moments with relentless opportunism. Let's just say that what didn't end up in his mouth landed in mine. I anticipate the next couple of years will be quite lucrative for this pup.
Mom picked me up form the hospital yesterday. Mostly I have been napping on my kitchen bed but Mom let me hang out in the front yard for a while with her to do some watering today. She says as long as I stay low key I am able to have a little supervised outdoor time,it helps with my depression. I am told that other Mom and Ian will be home late tonight but I am having a hard time conceptualizing this, I'll believe it when I smell it. Thanks for all of the Airezen. Love,Neko
I had a bad reaction to the pain medication they were giving me at the vet so I have to stay over another night for observation. I am doing much better tonight and they say I will go home tomorrow. Mom forgot the camera when she came to cuddle with me in the vet crate tonight so she promised that she would dig out some archival pics. These are some semi recent pics of me and my Moms participating in far better activities than recovering from surgery. I will meditate on these to get through my last night away from home. As for my Moms, they are pretty weak without me, who knows how they will manage. Love,Neko
This is your dog on drugs. My surgery went very well today, Dr. Carlson was amazing of course. We did stem cell therapy again and I'm told that now that both knees have been torn and replaced with titanium plates that I will never be able to tear them again. Moms are grateful for this as well. I have to spend the night at the hospital so Mom came and cuddled me in the crate before bed. Can you believe that I am sharing bunk beds with a bunny AND a cat. Under any other circumstance I would have to kill them but tonight I am high as kite so I will refrain and enjoy the ride. Thank you for all of the Airezen. Love,Neko
I can't believe this even though the vet said it was pretty common. I tore my left crutiate ligament just a week after I was completely healed from my right side surgery on Wednesday night. Moms and Ian were all set to leave for New Hampshire for ten days Thursday morning and I was off to camp tomato and I just had to chase that tennis ball, you can imagine the rest. My surgery is scheduled for next week. Mom stayed home with me and other Mom and Ian are in New Hampshire. I don't know how I am going to manage 8 more weeks of bed rest. This SUCKS! Love,Neko
I was due for an Airecut about the time I tore my crutiate ligament 2 months ago but being on bed rest I couldn't make it to the groomer. You can imagine how great it felt to get shorn like a sheep this past week, just in time for summer. Love,Neko
We are visiting my Grandma and Papa's this weekend for Father's Day and I am getting so much adoration from my young cousins. The sunny naps on the deck aren't bad either. Love,Neko
I have discovered the strangest, coolest thing ever. As part of my rehabilitation therapy I am doing underwater treadmill exercises. At first I am a little skeptical but once I get going I kind of like it. It's like swimming at the beach during an earthquake. The staff at http://www.thek9rehabcenter.com/index.htm are amazing, I can't wait to go back next week. Love,Neko
I went to my first post-surgery physical therapy appointment today. The good news is the doctor said I'm healing really well and can start doing five minute leash walks. The bad news is that Other Mom forgot the camera to take pictures of me in the water tank so you'll have to tune in next week when I go back. I'm tired from my outing today and miss Mom a lot.
I am recovering nicely from my knee surgery except I may die from boredom with the bed rest crap. I am still a little self conscious to show current pics so I picked a photo from a recent trip to Carmel where my cousin Dixie and I did some canine bonding. Love,Neko
Neko is very sore and her sense of humor is not what it usually is so she asked Mom not to post any embarrassing half shaved pictures until she was feeling well enough to look back and laugh. The surgery went well and the stem cell injections happened today both in the knee and in her elbows which have been quite arthritic lately. We will see how the stem cell rejuvenation therapy works over time. For now it's lots of poached chicken breast and yummy treats for Neko while she heals for the next 8 weeks. Love,Neko's Mom
I tore my right Crutiate Ligament (knee) at the park and am on bed rest until I have surgery to repair it on Tuesday. My recovery time after the surgery is 8 weeks. I don't know how I am going to sit around for 8 weeks, the boredom will do me in for sure. The pain pills are great but nothing is worth this. Moms feel secure that Dr. Kim Carlson, the surgeon who did my back a couple of years ago will take the best care of me. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers. We are considering restorative stem cell therapy after the surgery to help my recovery and to keep arthritis from progressing too quickly, does anyone out there have any experience with this? Love,Neko
Mom and I took some much needed solo time together at the dog park. I love my baby brother but it is nice to have my Mom to myself sometimes. Love,Neko
